Following the passage of the E-levy bill into law, mobile money companies have threatened to cease operations in the country.
In a recent interview with Citi News, the association’s General Secretary, Evans Otumfour, revealed this new development.
He added that the majority of their consumers will cease using their services, which will have a significant impact on the firm.
“Because the service is already not very profitable, we may be tempted to remove our services.”
Many of our employees will undoubtedly lose their jobs… There was a significant dip in the use of mobile money once the policy was introduced.”
Remember that parliament passed the Electronic Transfer Levy on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in the absence of the Minority MPs, who had walked out before the Bill was debated at the second reading stage.
